Dori was thrilled to meet Randy Fenoli, star of TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress" at a display of past & present wedding gown styles in a NY museum. Randy emceed the fashion show, and took questions. He has a new book about choosing your gown coming out in early November, and there's a possible "Say Yes" offshoot coming next year, where Randy goes to different cities/towns to help girls get their dream gowns.

Chicago Bridal Market - Just returned last night from an amazing Chicago Bridal Market, held at the Merchandise Mart. We headed there directly from the airport so as not to waste a minute. New gowns are SO feminine & ruffled! Saturday's highlight was the cocktail party & bridal fashion show--we took lots a pictures. We recognized the same gorgeous Chicago models from year to year. Up early Sunday for the Prom Fashion Show. This year I'm adding Blush, Alexia's prom line, because I loved the styles & the prices. Prom girls are in for a treat! Shopped all afternoon & found a line of camo prom & bridesmaid gowns, both short & long, in several colors & patterns. Can't wait to get them in, we get lots of requests. Bought some beautiful new veils, & lots of hairpieces. Couldn't resist a foot "necklace" for beach weddings. The Robin Jillian bridals, exclusive in our area to Trousseaux, just took my breath away. As a private line, they aren't on the Internet or in catalogs, so your dress is unique, not one seen at every big box store across America. Talked to the designer, Robin Jillian, & congratulated her on the absolute beauty of her creations. She said she's still tweaking a neckline here, & flower there. Monday we took the afternoon off from shopping to do some sightseeing. Headed to the Navy Pier to catch the Architectural Boat Tour on the Chicago River. Loved hearing about those huge skyscrapers (a few designed by Perkins & Will; my daughter Kelley's boyfriend is an architect at P&W Manhattan). At the DEBI Awards that night, held at the Field Museum, Laura Bell Bundy, country singer extraordinaire, was emcee--an elegant black-tie affair! We had seats with the owner of Casablanca Bridals, Kevin Lu. He was nominated for Best Moderate Bridal, but didn't win this year. Well deserved though, as the newest line has some real show stoppers. What an evening of gorgeous gowns & men in tuxes!
